| P-Card Fraud |
I would like to alert you to a possibility of fraud on some of our OSU
p/cards. Bank One has alerted me to several instances of internet
charges to a company called www.shocktees.com based in London. This has
affected several of our p/cards and as the bank comes across these
charges a temporary hold is being placed on these cards. If you see any
charges on your p/card or on cards you approve that appear suspicious,
please alert the bank IMMEDIATELY at 800-316-6056. It appears that a
series of card numbers may have been compromised. The bank is working
to identify these charges and is contacting the cardholders as they
come across them. One of the Bank One employees asked for the
cardholder to give their card number over the phone. This is something
we never advise doing. Please call the bank back at the number above
and ask for the Security Division. They will know what is going on and
will not mind that you are being careful with your card number. I would
also appreciate a brief e-mail notifying me of any cards in your area
that have been compromised. Thank you for your help and prompt
attention to this matter. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.

| Sales Scams |
Purchasing has received notice from a department that a company has
been using devious methods to obtain payments and commitment for
additional payments. Apparently this company will record your
call if you phone to question an invoice and play back part of the call
later, when it is again questioned, as proof of purchase. The
complaining department also claims that a check from this company has
been received and inadvertently deposited. This action commits
the department for further charges in a familiar scheme. A quick
web check indicates that other organizations have had similar
experiences with this company.
Be alert to such scams. Every invoice should have a purchase
order number that can be easily verified otherwise it should be
discarded. If the company cannot produce a purchase order number
for the purchase they have no sale. Posted 03/16/04,
